found the fix! In Ubuntu it was just changing the system fonts to enable font aliasing. Wow, major fix accomplished! Now if I can only get web pics insert to work...

perhaps http://www.thebrain.com/ does this for you. I use both programs parallel - XMind is great for visualizing small areas of knowledge or to plan projects. Personal Brain helps you to find associations between all topics that interest...
That's the way it's meant to be: It's not a border but a sort of line for each sub-topic. When you mindmap by hand that's a fast and convenient way to create subtopics.

You see those small triangles when writing a node? Before hitting "enter" take your mouse and click on those triangles, then slide to the left and you will get your line-breaks. I needed a while to find that out myself...

Stephen, but rather than adding subtopics I'd rather have links within the topic just like the weblink or the link to another map clickable with an icon (via right-click - hyperlink...). This would make for less cluttered topics. :)

But still no "search for text in notes" - which is quite a lack if using the software to organize "notes".
You can choose a different structure for each node. Is that what you mean?

That's your problem: "My folder (named xMind) contains 1193 objects but no sub-folders. " - you should keep the folder structure when un-zipping.

Multiple attachments to would be fine. Now, when I have a web-link and also want to link to a pdf on my system, the weblink just disappears.
