XMind -- Social Brainstorming and Mind Mapping

On April 29th, XMind announced the new update, v3.0.3, which is a very important update. Here, we can talk about the details in this update.
New Features
1. Crash Recovery
Our operating system or XMind itself may crash because of some unexpected reasons. Once this happened, all your work will be lost. This feature can prevent this kind loss.

2. Topic Text Alignment
Select a topic, there is one more option to let you set topic text alignment in the "Properties View".

3. Export to FreeMind
One target of XMind is to let your work and communicate easily and efficiently. So there is Export to FreeMind. Now, you should not worry about communicating the people who can only read FreeMind file.

4. Zoom Map with "Ctrl+Scroll Mouse Wheel"
If you are using Mac operating system, you should instead "Ctrl" with "Command". People, who prefer to use keyboard most time, would like this feature more.

5. Enhanced "Find and Replace"
Before v3.0.3, we can just use "Ctrl+F" to find and replace the text in topics only. Now, this feature is available on the content of Label, Boundary, Summary. You can also use this in the Notes view too. In fact, we will be able to find the text in notes without opening notes view in next update.

6. Auto Hyperlink
This is a feature designed to Rich Text Notes. Once you type the sentence like "http://www.xxx.xxx", this sentence will become a hyperlink and have special style. I like this feature very much. I have not to select a sentence and use toolbar to label it as hyperlink. And my maps' readers could click this hyperlink and open it.

7. Spell Check in Notes
A red underline will show the wrong spelling words. At present, XMind just has english dictionary in itself. You can add other dict into XMind too. A Polish user shares his experience at:

In next update, the spell checker not only just tell you which is wrong, but also give you suggestions to correct it.

8. Use command line to enter Presentation mode
This is only available on Windows only. Many computer masters like it. They would like to use the command line to do many things on computer. Most are developers. So now, they can open XMind with "xmind xxx.xmind", enter into presentation mode with "xmind -p xxx.xmind".

Improvement
1. V3.0.3 improves the memory usage while using XMind for a long time, esp on Windows. Sometimes, this may caused crash.

2. V3.0.2 improves the speed of saving files, esp. if you have many attachments in the map.

Bugs
1. After enabling "Restore last session" in preference dialog, and restarting XMind without closing file, that file will be labeled dirty to ask you to save it.

2. After deleting the hyperlink and clicking "ok" in the hyperlink dialog, that hyperlink is still available in that topic.

I hope this could be helpful for you use new XMind and XMind Pro.

First, XMind is really a fantastic product, so take my gripe below with a "grain of salt."

The addition of a spell checking feature is an excellent choice, but its implementation is incomplete and ineffective at its intended purpose.

Currently, if spell checking is enabled, there are no visual cues on the map that a node contains a misspelled word. If I edit a particular node, I *do* see misspelled words underlined, but I can't right click them and see suggestions. So the documentation provided here is simply not working:

Using XMind Pro 3.0.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.x. A friend of mine is on 10.5.x and has the same issues.
